Makeup Bandit

To say that Bridget likes makeup would be a wild understatement. She has become the cosmetic criminal in our house. Its not that I'm surprised. You can imagine how much make up is in various drawers, closets, and purses around my house.

Bridget never one to miss out on the fun has taken to painting herself with the lipsticks. I've tried explaining that its just for grown ups, or only for mommy to put. Literally every time I turn around, Bridget has a brightly colored lipstick in a corner and is decorating herself, the walls, the carpet and anything else in close proximity. I'm not going to lie, the novelty has certainly worn off but considering my chosen profession and what I undoubtedly put my parents through when I was young... I accept this as my penance. But she ertainly looks cute all painted up!

Durango!!!

We took a trip to Durango this week. Mostly to relax and recover from all the craziness that December brought. Also to celebrate Bridget's 1st Birthday!! We enjoyed the snow (Jason went skiing and we all went sledding) some shopping and some great family time. Jax didn't ski this trip, but will hit the ski school at Sandia Peak next month.

I'm convinced Bridget will be more amused by the snow next year... For now she will remain a snow-bunny and would prefer to sip hot chocolate by the fire in the lodge.
Jaxon was a sledding trooper. After a big crash where he met the snow face first he was writhing on the ground. In between moans he said "Ohhhhh, Can I do it again!?! Ohhhhhhhh"

Jaxon got his own sofa bed which he immediatly jumped on and Bridget had a pack n'play.

Jaxon got to spend his dollar he'd been saving at the candy store. It took him a while to make a decision. (or to understand why a dollar can't buy everything)

We went out for a big dinner and ordered a mint ice cream cake for desert in celebration of Bridget's 1st year. The kids dug right in.

A Mime by any other name...

Bridget received mixed reactions from our choice of Halloween costume. I'm pretty sure I was the most amused by it. People were either equally amused, or horrified.

She doesn't say much (except for the occassional growl) so she was an excellent Mime. Yes I am a professional Makeup Artist. But even after I strapped her into her carseat, it was a tough job. Its possible some of the people giving me confused/concerned looks thought I dressed my baby girl up as Heath Ledger's most recent Joker from Batman, as the face painting ended up a bit on the messy side.

Bridget on the move

I have failed to document Bridget's progress. She crawls. She stands. She claps. She growls. She adores her big brother. She has all sorts of tricks. She is a sweet little girl with a spunky personality. She is going to be plenty tough courtesy of her big brother. As she enters into her 10th month, we are in no hurry for her to walk, but it will more than likely begin very soon.

Side Walk Chalk

$2.00 in side walk chalk occupied us for hours today. I think Jaxon was amazed that we were drawing on something other than paper. Fortunately the weather was beautiful and we were able to avoid the oncoming case of cabin fever and get outside to enjoy it.

Bridget is getting more alert and aware everyday. She is one month old now and we love having her around. She is such a mellow baby!!!

The newest addition

Bridget Maven is the newest addition to our family and arrived in style at 10:18 am (just in time for brunch) on Tuesday January 12, 2010. She came quickly (thank God) after only 6 hours of labor. But came with a bang at a whopping 9 lbs 10 oz and 21 inches long. We spent a relaxing day and a half in the hospital while Jaxon stayed with Grandpa Chip and Grandma Larissa. We had a flurry of visitors in the hospital which was great.

Having 2 children is not quite as scary as I thought. Though it does seem like I'm changing diapers endlessly. Jaxon is adapting to the big brother role nicely. He always wants to know what his sister is doing He constantly asks "Baby doing?" with his hands in the air.

I am at home with them both til mid March, which I'm incredibly thankful for. Bridget has adjusted and has a pretty consistent sleeping schedule now. She has 2 sleepy feedings between midnight and 6am. Jason is great about doing all that he can. He changes diapers like a champ and will swaddle, and comfort the baby so mommy can get more sleep.

God has certainly blessed us with another healthy beautiful baby.
