Life in Double Stroller Land

These kids are certainly keeping me on my toes. Especially the miscevious looking one in the hat.

Bridget is becoming more and more aware everyday. Anytime you get close and say her name, she immediatly brightens up with a huge gummy grin. Bridget watches every move Jaxon makes following him around the room with her eyes. She has a distinct baldspot worn in the back of her head, but still has quite a bit more hair than her brother did at this age. She is almost sleeping through the night regularly. (by night, I mean midnight to 9am. I keep my kids on my kind of schedule. No early risers in this house ;-)

Jaxon is loving being a big brother and exploring the options that being 2 has brought him. He readily says no to almost anything with a devious smile. Even if its something that he wants. We've figured out that giving him choices is the way to go. "Jaxon do you want Orange Juice or Apple Juice?" "Dinosaur or Monkey Jammies?"He loves Toy Story and usually has his Buzz and Woody toys in tow. He is all boy and likes to "Fight bad guys" He plays with the little girls next door and always tries to get them to fight bad guys with him. He is still an incredibly sweet friendly boy and is always saying hi to strangers in stores or walking down the street.

"Hi man! What you doing?" to which they usually respond surprised "Walking" or some such activity. If they don't respond, Jaxon will yell "Hey, I'm talking!"

Being a mom to these kids exceeds my expectations and blows my mind everyday.

Side Walk Chalk

$2.00 in side walk chalk occupied us for hours today. I think Jaxon was amazed that we were drawing on something other than paper. Fortunately the weather was beautiful and we were able to avoid the oncoming case of cabin fever and get outside to enjoy it.

Bridget is getting more alert and aware everyday. She is one month old now and we love having her around. She is such a mellow baby!!!

Grinch?

Jaxon usually wears hats. It started out as a practical thing. He was bald, it was winter, so I put him in hats. But it started at such young age that he got used to it. Now he asks for them. And often doesn't want to leave the house without his signature accessory. Well now that he finally has hair I sometimes style it. The other day I did his hair and after I was through I turned him around to look at his reflection in the mirror. He promptly pointed at himself and said "Grinch" with a big smile. As I thought about it I realized what he meant. The peak in his hair looked to him like the young grinch from the movie. (this kid's memory never ceases to amaze me)

Below are several failed attempt at getting a 2 year old boy who has just had candy to sit still for a picture. Jaxon is potty training (as I refuse to have 2 in diapers for much longer) And he is doing a pretty good job of it. He gets a "treat" every time he goes and that amounts to more candy than he usually gets his hands on.

The newest addition

Bridget Maven is the newest addition to our family and arrived in style at 10:18 am (just in time for brunch) on Tuesday January 12, 2010. She came quickly (thank God) after only 6 hours of labor. But came with a bang at a whopping 9 lbs 10 oz and 21 inches long. We spent a relaxing day and a half in the hospital while Jaxon stayed with Grandpa Chip and Grandma Larissa. We had a flurry of visitors in the hospital which was great.

Having 2 children is not quite as scary as I thought. Though it does seem like I'm changing diapers endlessly. Jaxon is adapting to the big brother role nicely. He always wants to know what his sister is doing He constantly asks "Baby doing?" with his hands in the air.

I am at home with them both til mid March, which I'm incredibly thankful for. Bridget has adjusted and has a pretty consistent sleeping schedule now. She has 2 sleepy feedings between midnight and 6am. Jason is great about doing all that he can. He changes diapers like a champ and will swaddle, and comfort the baby so mommy can get more sleep.

God has certainly blessed us with another healthy beautiful baby.

January Recap

If your still checking our blog periodically, (thank you for not giving up on me)than you probably know us well enough to know we had the baby!! Bridget Maven Clay was born on January 12, 2010. However several notable things happened in the mean time that I need to recount before I go crazy with baby pictures.

January 1, 2010 my brother Jesse married Rebekah. Which also meant we had almost all of our extended family in town!!! We had so much fun visiting with Aunts, Uncles, Great Grandparents, and cousins!!!

On January 4th, Jaxon went to UNM Hospital for an outpatient surgery to fix a pre-existing eye condition called Intermitten Myopia. (this basically means that one of his eyes drifted out occasionally) It wasn't a severe case (some people never noticed it) but it had worsened over the past year. We opted to have this operation as it could continue and cause vision problems in the future. Jaxon went through it like a champ. And the Dr said that before he went under the anesthesia, he was flirting with all the nurses and they all wanted to take him home.

Through all this I managed to not go into labor (thank God!) though my Dr. did write me out on leave early due to some problems with circulation in one of my legs. Its been a blessing spending extra time with Jaxon before the baby came and preparing for her arrival. The nursery has been completed! Those of you who took the time to vote on a bed set a few months back, here is the outcome...
