Stuff White People Like

The following blog was taken from the website...

I thought it was so funny, I had to share it. Especially considering that Jaxon is wearing a Pea Coat in the picture below.

As the temperature starts to drop, many white people are forced to start wearing winter coats. Though many will simply don outdoor performance gear, a great number will turn to the #1 white winter jacket of all time: The Pea Coat.
The Pea Coat was originally worn by sailors and members of the European Navy. If you think about it for a second, this means that the coat is European, Coastal, and Vintage. Three of white people’s favorite things.
Another common characteristic of the coat is that white people will write their names on the label inside the coat. This is not done for fear of theft, but rather as a necessary precaution against party mixups. You see, when a white person attends a party in the winter time they will often be required to put their jacket in a room with literally dozens of other pea coats! Since these coats often contain ticket stubs to the same concerts and identical Trader Joe’s receipts, it can be impossible to find the original owner without a name written inside.
Like with sweaters, the process of acquiring a Pea Coat is almost as important as the coat itself. Fashionable white people can purchase designer pea coats for well over $1000, but the top ranked white people purchase their at Army Surplus stores. This makes them feel better than the white people have spent thousands of dollars on an identical piece of clothing.
But perhaps the greatest value of the pea coat is its ability to help you determine which non-white people have been accepted into the ranks of white people. It is not known if the coat is given to them in an elaborate ceremony or if they buy it themselves, but in either case by wearing the coat they are telling the world that they have white friends.
Long story short, if you want to increase your popularity with white people this winter, get a Pea Coat.

Jaxon's first "Real Christmas"

Though he won't fully appreciate the true splendor of Jesus' Birthday til next year. We counted this year as his "first" Christmas because he is no longer has more in common with a banana slug than a person. Merry Christmas Little Guy!

Christmas Eve

After the Christmas Eve service at Calvary, we decided to start a "Clay Family Tradition", and make the hour drive to Santa Fe. We really bundled up for this cold adventure. With Jaxon in the back pack, we treked through the snow up and down Canyon Road and looked at all the luminarias warmed ourselves by the various bon fires and sang Christmas Carols. We snacked on popcorn, toffe and hot chocolate on the ride home.

River of lights

We went to the river of lights at the Albuquerque Botanic Gardens on Monday night with Heidi, Jesse, his Bekah, and Grandma Sky. Lots of lights to look at, and lots of fun. Jaxon's favorite part was the hot chocolate.

Where have we been???

Well a lot has happened in the past 2 weeks. None of which I have documented. Mostly because the computer crashed, right about the same time the memory card to the camera was ruined. In mourning of the loss of these things that contained endless amounts of information and pictures...I lost my will to blog.
It may be slowly returning. I don't want to miss any major moments in the upcoming holiday season.
Let me sum up the last two weeks quickly as they have been very eventful. Jaxon turned 1, we had several celebrations. He pretty much walks now. (well, he at least takes several steps in a row before sitting down) I am 29 (no not 30, 29) I had a few celebrations for that as well. We got our Christmas tree. (A little one that is up on the coffe table, in honor Jaxon's mobility and ever present curiosity) Sydey (our girl dog) got into the trash ate something awful (possibly a diaper) developed an ulcer in her stomach, had to be admited to the doggie emergency room. That pretty much ate up $600 of our Christmas fund. She is okay now, but has to eat expensive food and take pills every 3 hours.
All three of us (humans) came down with what can only be described as the plague. We slept for pretty much two days straight subsiting on only crackers and 7-up (Pedialyte for Jax).
During this time it has snowed. A lot. Jaxon has four teeth coming in on top. At the same time. This makes him a little extra fussy. Jason and I accidently double dosed him on infant tylenol. Thats what you get when you are grumpy, sick and not communicating with each other properly. We quickly realized this and called the nice lady at Poison Control. She actually told us that it was okay and Jaxon will be fine. We would have had to give him 4x what we gave him to do any harm at all. Whew.

And that brings us to the present day. Still with me? I'm surprised. My attention span would have veered off by now. I don't do well reading lengthy blogs with no pictures.

Here is a fun picture we got of Jaxon enjoying the snow while we shopped for a tree...

Giving Thanks

I will be honest, I never really knew where Thanksgiving came from. Yes, yes I knew about the pilgrims being thankful and sitting down with the "Natives" learning about popcorn etc. But did you know that President Lincoln declared it a day to give thanks to God? I did not. Check out this link to read his proclamation. Now that is one articulate man.

We celebrated this great holiday at church on Wednesday night at the Annual Thanksgiving Banner Service (and pie social :-). We made our first family banner, paraded it around the sanctuary with the other families and Jaxon made a surprise debut on stage with Grandpa. Then on Thursday we drove to Grants to be with Jason's Family, relax and enjoy some great cooking!

(Only 6 feet and over here. Except Jax, but we have high hopes for him)

Jason's sister Judy was in town from Oklahoma. This was the first time she met Jaxon and they got along just fine! In fact, I think she'd make a great nanny...
