Mom Jeans

Today I picked my sister Heidi up to hang out. She looked at me and said flatly, "Your starting to dress like a mom. You used to dress much more glamorously."(Is that even a word Heidi?)
This startled me. I'm so used to being accused of over dressing for most occasions, I was caught off guard. Am I becoming one of those moms already? I took a shower and got ready as I usually do. I will admit I'm wearing a little less makeup than B.J. (Before Jaxon). And since I'm on leave, I've abandoned my usual uniform of all black. But Jaxon isn't monopolizing THAT much of my time. Is he? Will I soon be one of those moms who perpetually goes around in running suits even though, they OBVIOUSLY aren't doing much running? Will I soon buy my jeans in the "Classic" fit? High waisted and sassy?
I don't think its gotten that severe. But good. I should look like a mom. Better than running around in a halter top with a belly button ring hanging out holding my baby on my hip as I cruise the malls.

Creepy baby party

Today we got a Bumbo, which as you can see from the poor picture is a squishy baby chair. Apparently its winning all sorts of awards, so we got it. I was very excited, until I saw this picture on the box. Then I was disturbed. It seems that Jaxon will be able to have parties with all his other baby friends and they will sit around with baby silly expressions on their face and stare at cake that they won't be able to eat because he isn't into solid foods yet. Strange very strange.

The pee pee tee-pee

For those of you that don't know or only have girls and haven't experienced the art and science of changing a little boy's diaper, I will explain. You see it takes much skill and concentration. Its not a walk in the park, you have to get in and get out or you risk being shot at. Letting your guard down isn't an option. It all happens so fast with little or no warning.
So, I have recently invested in a security measure of sorts. The bulletproof vest of the baby world. The pee pee tee-pee. Thats not to say I'm invincible but I you can sleep better at night knowing I'm protected.

Shelton's Holiday Party

Jason and I had our second night out tonight. His parents came in from Grants to watch Jaxon and we went to Bien Shur for the Shelton Jewelers Holiday Party. Lovely.

6 week update

My new best friend has the physical capabilities similar to that of a banana slug. I'm not certain exactly how he thinks of me at this point or if he does. But that doesn't stop me from having full on conversations with him. Usually in stores. I get concerned stares from people who can't see the stroller and just think I'm asking myself if I'm ready to go home and eat. I should probably put my blue tooth in my ear just to ward off these bewildered glances. Jaxon will be 6 weeks old tomorrow which means I have been home from work for that long, and I have 6 more weeks to go.
Jason is doing great with being a dad. Since day one, he jumped right in with the diaper changing and is usually the one to hear Jaxon and wake up if he wimpers during the night. He is amazed by EVERYTHING Jaxon does and goes on and on about all the things that they are going to do together when he is bigger. Though I don't know how I feel about Jaxon rock climbing at the ripe age of two...
My sister Heidi has been with me since his birth. She sacrificed most of her winter break and now is staying with us while my dad is in Morocco. She has been a great help, and I'm probably driving her nuts asking her to "fetch" everything from my cell phone to an emergency burp cloth any time I'm incapacitated by nursing. She is getting a crash course on parenting, while I get a complimentary nanny.
All in all, being parents agrees with us and we are excited to see what the next 6 weeks of his life will bring.

Action Jaxon

For those of you that don't get enough face time with the man himself, here are a couple video teasers. Here he is getting a little tummy time and trying to make his escape. Yes we know they aren't action packed yet, but just wait...
