Pagaents

I have always been secretly fascinated by pageants. And not the silly ones where only the prettiest girl wins but has nothing between her ears (Miss USA, thank you Mr. Trump) but the ones where the girls have to be mildly intelligent, talented, and make significant contributions to society on top of being able to walk around on stage in a bathing suit with smile on their faces. (The Miss America Pageant) No I have never wanted to compete and God knows if I ever have a daughter I will lock her up before I would do that to her. But I've always loved watching them. I like to pick my favorite from the beginning and cheer for her to win. I also love calling them by their state. Example, " I really hope Texas doesn't win her hair is too big, but I like Iowa's smile."
Below is a picture of me with a family friend who was Mrs. Colorado. I got to go watch her compete and win. This is probably when my fascination began.

(Yes I always smiled like that, I thought it made me look sophisticated, kind of like Princess Diana. I have since figured a few things out)

When I lived in Las Vegas I was given the opportunity to work on the Miss America pageant and jumped at it! It was so exciting to see what goes on back stage. I love that even today, those girls have chaperons everywhere they go and all the entourage that travels with each girl. Here is Miss Pennsylvania (in the red dress) sporting my make-up. She won the Bathing Suit Competition but sadly didn't make it all the way.

Bubble Bath

Jason is in Oklahoma for a football game. Here is a little video we shot to show him all the fun baby times he is missing...

Bananas in Pajamas

I remembered this show today, mostly because Heidi used to be such a big fan when she was little. I thought Jaxon might enjoy it and I was right. He loved it. And of course we ate bananas while we watched it.

A bad day fishing?

Whats that they say about a bad day fishing? Its better than a good day at work? Well I love my job and all, but that saying pretty much applies to being with Jaxon. He lights your day. Let me share all the lovely things that I encountered today . I keep a wax pot for, well waxing in my bathroom. Its unplugged and not hot while I'm not using it. I USED to store it under my bathroom sink until today. Jason did a great job baby proofing the kitchen, but hasn't quite made it to the bathroom. Jaxon found the wax and was very amused/disturbed when his hands started sticking to each other, his clothes, and his face. There you go Mess #1. Later after that disaster was recovered, I changed his diaper, but must not have fastened one of the sides all the way because it dislodged and his diaper starting making its way off towards the side that was still secured. As we were leaving I noticed he starting getting really warm in my arms. We were both very wet. Mess #2. We quickly went back home to change into dry clean clothes, and then ran to the grocery store to pick up somethings, but I must have left the formula out on the counter and the dogs got to it. I found the can later on the floor empty with formula all over surrounding areas. Mess # 3. Later, as Jaxon and I were sitting at the computer checking email, I was consoling myself with a couple cookies. I didn't pay much attention but he was squirming and wanted down, so I obliged. While I was typing something up, he must have stood on his tiptoes, and snatched a chocolate filled cookie. I looked over moments later and this is what I found.... Mess #4

Needless to say I haven't gotten much laundry done or anything else. But I have enjoyed every messy moment of today.

Preach it Dad

My Dad taught the Wednesday night service at Calvary this week. I feel like a proud parent bragging but he really brought his "A" game. I like watching my Dad teach especially lately. His sense of humor has ripened nicely. Most people are a little intimidated by him at first, because he is pretty direct and usually a little distracted.
(which typically means he isn't looking right at you unless you REALLY get his attention)
He taught on the future of the Church in America last night. I found it to be poignant, convicting, and just funny enough to keep your attention the whole time. Kudos Dad.

(And yes I stole that picture from the church website. Does God frown on things like that?)

A Wild Week of Fun

A lot happened last week. So much in fact that I won't go into great detail about much. Levi and Jennie came into town with Alivia and Lenya, Halloween happened, we had lots of great family get togethers, and Nate Heitizig married his fiance Janae. Levi, Daniel and Alivia were all in the wedding party. Then I got really sick and some guy got elected president. That pretty much sums it all up. Here are the pictures to prove it.

Sooo Funny

I'm not quite sure if it was the coldness or the sweetness or both, but Jaxon found my blizzard hilarious. Enjoy!
