Jason's Birthday

Yesterday was Jason's 34th Birthday! To celebrate we got a babysitter (Grandma Sky) and went out. Jaxon and my mom had a great night bonding. To spend a few hours with Jaxon is to love him even more. Jason and I went to dinner at Yanni's and then to a movie. I will admit about 20 minutes into the movie I started thinking about our little guy and wished for the movie to end so we could go home to him! I knew he was in good hands since my mom has done this 5 times. Jason and I enjoyed our time alone and had a great night!

Bath time

Jaxon had his first non sponge-bath today. Our normally happy baby, was not a fan of the bathing process.

Tardy Christmas

My brother mocked me because I was just getting my shopping done for Christmas this week. We've kind of had our hands full with this, bringing new life into the world. He doesn't even know that we just put our Tree up on the 20th. When you go to the tree lot this close to Christmas, you get the "less symmetrical" trees. But who said your tree has to be symmetrical? Ours is up and its beautiful with its imperfections. Never mind the fact that Jason and I had to turn and rotate it several times to get the side with the fewest "holes"
Jaxon just sits on the couch and stares into the lights with his mouth gaping open. Its pretty much the cutest thing ever. He is mesmerized by all the twinkling!

Spit up

So, today my precious son "spit up" all down into my sleeve. It was a magical moment. If you would have asked me a month ago how I would have handled this, I would have probably answered by gagging. (mostly because of the constant "morning sickness" I was plagued by)
But really, I've had a pretty weak stomach most of my life and a low tolerance for anything even remotely gross. Even certain words can make me gag.
Its strange how becoming a mother instantly makes you tough. I wasn't grossed as the wetness dribbled down my arm. I was amused. I even almost found it cute.

Sweet Peace

We are the proud new owners of the Sweet Peace Infant Soothing System. This is no ordinary baby swing. This is the Cadillac of baby swings, fully loaded. If it could have spinning hubcaps and little tv's in the back of the seat, it would.
Do we need this? Probably not. Would a simpler less expensive baby swing sooth our child? Probably. Does our baby even cry? No, only twice. But, if he ever does... he will be instantly soothed!
It has a rocking motion that simulates the way I would rock him. And I can change directions on it by re positioning the seat, in case he prefers to be rocked head first instead of feet first, or if he wants to be rocked sideway. Stunning I know! It has 6 different speeds and if the number of straps that are required to keep him restrained, make it look like we are preparing to launch our little bundle of joy into space.
It plays the sound of my heart beat, the sound of water running, the sound of some jungle (why that would be soothing to an infant, I don't know) 20 different lullabyes, with both fast and slow tempos AND it has a place to plug in Jaxon's IPOD. That is there in case the lulluabyes don't cut it and he demands to hear some Coldplay. Did I mention that the seat vibrates?
I've put Jaxon in it twice now with the heart beat sound going, its like the baby equivalent to Ambien.

It's A Boy!

Jason and I have a baby boy. We have been waiting for so long, 9 months at least, but finally this watermelon in my belly has become a baby in my arms! I am sure that this Christmas will hold a new and special appreciation for what God chose to do in coming to the earth and our lives will never be the same. His name is Jaxon West Clay and he is AMAZING!
